A unique Patek Philippe gold perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with moon phases and tonneau-shaped case is being offered by Christie's this month in their Important Watch sale in Geneva.
Manufactured in 1943, this ref. 1527 wristwatch first caught the eye of the horological community when it surfaced at auction 20 years ago. It has been known ever since as Patek's "large size, one-off perpetual calendar chronograph".
